Life lessons from a Legend

Category: "Inspire" Stories

Date: November 12, 2020

On the “Inspire” podcast, we heard from our new partner Matt Smith, who talked about how his background in sports helped him learn how to respond to adversity and made him a stronger person.

While Matt’s own playing days are behind him, his competitive spirit lives on in his daughters, Ava and Alaya. In fact, Ava is on a basketball team that has competed with the best of the best — including a team coached by NBA legend Kobe Bryant and featuring his daughter Gigi Bryant, both of whom passed away tragically earlier this year.

Getting a close look at Kobe Bryant’s approach to sports and life was very inspiring to Matt, and it made him want to work even harder to achieve his goals. Here’s a great photo of Kobe posing with Ava’s team:

Big thanks to Matt for sharing his story and offering his insights to all of us. We’re honored to welcome him and his family into ours.
